Looking for Artifacts

 Hey folks,

Today I want to talk about treasure. One of my boyfriend, Aaron's, favorite thing to do in the whole world is looking for Native American artifacts. They were made thousands of years ago. There is something special about finding something that has not been touched by a human for that long of a time.  Looking in creeks and farm fields around us (with permission of course) has been a favorite year round pass time for him and I when there is nothing to do (for me that is when it's poor fishing days). I have a creek somewhat behind my house where my great grandpa used to find spear points and an axe head. One day, a few years ago in May, Aaron and I were looking for mushrooms and I jumped in the creek jokingly saying I saw an arrowhead...well I actually did, but it was a part of a broke off knife according to artifact books.

That started a whole new hobby for us.  It is so cool when you actually find a piece of history where the only visible part is a tip poking out of the dirt in a corn field.

Broken Holland I found today which dates back to the early Archaic period (9,800-7,500 B.C.)

So this weekend I went over to his house and he told me that is what he wants to do. I owe him because the last few weekends was about me wanting to kayak fish and my turkey season where Aaron was like a guide for both. Today we got super lucky, it was by far my best day (I found 5 good artifacts) and Aaron found a nice blade of some sort. It started raining and we got to the car before it got heavier. Our arrowhead hunting got cut a little short today but we definitely did good!

A funny thing that happened was I looked down and there was a white rock 3 feet away and I said "Oh my gosh it's a drill!" and Aaron was thinking of how he wanted to find a drill just minutes before. It was or last find of the day so we ended it on a good note!

My drill

Looking for arrowheads reminds me of this verse, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." Matthew 13:44. This is so much like looking for arrowheads- especially since we mostly look in fields. To us they are treasures. The man in the verse found the kingdom of heaven, and he wanted it so much he sold all he had because what is better than the treasure of eternal life with the creator of all life? What is better than an eternity long relationship with Jesus? Nothing- to me that is worth all I have.
