Another Trip to Kentucky

I got the chance to go to Kentucky to be with Parker after our internship ended and right before classes started at my new college. I am so grateful to have this small bit of free time before life gets back on track with school and work.

Parker and I

I was down there from Wednesday to Sunday so I had a good chunk of time and lots of activities. I was hotter than heck down there at that time though. The first day we went to Cincinnati Zoo, it was so cool because I have watched it on TV before but never figured I'd get the chance to go. I would like to point out how weird it is that zoos are smack dab in the middle of most cities. I really liked the habitats and displays they had such as the night exhibits of animals.

The next day we went to Barea, KY and folks- that town was made for me. Artist hub college town with beautiful hills surrounding it with hiking and fudge, bread, and smoothies?! I'm sure that wasn't a dream! We talked with some local artists around there and got to see their studios (I have an art show coming up on Sept. 11 and 12 so I was asking about pricing). My dream is to have a studio of my own some day even if it is just in my own house.

Lemur looking cute

Saturday was fun of going to a bunch of outdoor stores gearing up for deer season and ogling at the weaponry since Kentucky is quite a bit different than Illinois. After that we went to crave and I got Thai food because I am a HUGE fan and hung out with some of Parker's friends which are all such great folks almost every day I was there. On Sunday I went to Bible study with his mom and sister and I really can't describe to you all how lovely it is that I can be a part of a family that loves Jesus like I do and talks about God's word. Then Parker comes for the church service and it all just feels so right. Then I had to eave and drive the 6 hours back home and it was the saddest feeling ever. I only get to see him every other weekend due to work and it's heart breaking. But, we are strong and confident in our relationship so the distance is tolerable because what we have is worth it. The Bible verse I have chosen for this blog is literally so beautiful, when I read it my jaw dropped. It is, "There are three things that amaze me—no, four things that I don't understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman." -Proverbs 30:18-19. Here, David is talking about beautiful things that seem too amazing to fathom which is why this is such a powerful verse. Love is the greatest commandment after all.
