My New Outdoor Job!

Lovely news, Everyone! I got a job at the nature center that my college owns! It is 104 acres of prairie, bottomland forest, historic areas and even has a green house and insectarium. I will be working as a work study student which allows me to do things such as conduct my own research projects (I'll talk about that here in a few days), work on and find Native American archaeology and paleontology of extinct mammal discovery sites, hike trails and maintain them, do odd jobs like maintenance and keeping the place tidy for visitors, help with classes that come out for labs and inventory all living species that are out there as well as just any fun thing that is of benefit you can imagine.

This is such a testimony to trusting God. When I came back from Kentucky I needed some sort of a job to fund being able to go down there often and pay for college. I'll be honest, since I asked God for this I put all my eggs in this one basket. I found out that the job was completely mine at the college job fair I went to- you see I had been in contact with the man who ran it and the lead faculty for the conservation biology department trying to get this job for quite some time, sending in my resume and such, the job fair was just a formality. We set up a time to meet that next Monday and hike around the property while we discussed the plan for me working there.

We had a fantastic tour- it took about 4 hours, I could have stayed way longer had I not had any homework. I got really excited to begin working out there and being able to do research of whatever I wanted. We sat down for lunch at the pavilion and I had to ask about the hours since college said maximum of 5 hours per week, if that was the case I was going to have to get another job as well as this one. I completely trusted God and waited on applying to the 3 other possible jobs I had found. I told everyone that this is my job and had so much faith that God would work it out. Well, they wanted me to be out there as much as I could so last week I was told I can work up to 20 hours per week!! That is PERFECT for my schedule, getting stuff done out there and making money. My boss is very excited and believes with my energy and ambition we can get it all done in the next 2 years- yup, I got this for the rest of my college career!

My Bible verse this time is "You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you." - Psalms 128:2. I have been nonstop working toward my goal of being a wildlife biologist. Each step I take, as long as I trust God, puts me in a better place than I was. Each new job laid before me is always a little better for me than the last, but it takes dedication and hard work no matter where you are at in your life. If you know me I work many jobs and seldom ever find time for myself doing art or whatever but I truly enjoy work and being out here is going to be so much fun! I am so thankful to God for all the good he does in my life! If you look for it- he does good in yours, too.
