Frogging in Louisiana

Fueled by waffle house's biscuits and gravy and sweet tea, my friends from work and I went frogging; this was my first time ever! We got in the boat, 5 of us from work total and began spotting frogs and taking turns catching them. I am happy to say I saw the first frog, I honestly was super satisfied just at that because of how fun it is being on the swamp at night but I did miss catching him and it took a little practice. When I got the hand of it though, I was a frog catching machine, haha. We used out hands and spotlights to catch the frogs in the water and on the banks. We caught 36 frogs that night and stayed out til 1 in the morning. I wasn't really that tired on the boat because it was so fun and exciting but when we got on the shore that's when I got sleepy.

That night we saw herons and egrets roosting in trees above the bayou. It was a clear night and you could see the Spanish moss hanging off the trees they were in. Beavers and muskrats were working, carrying away willow twigs, we saw a screech owl about 3 feet away from our heads as we passed it by in the boat. It was small and cute. We saw a lot of alligators, they were scared of the boat motor and typically sunk and swam away before we got close. We did get to hold a baby gator that was caught swimming by the boat.

The verse I picked for this blog is about friendship. I came to this state not knowing anyone from here and I made some really good friends. They encourage me and teach me new things like frogging and how to eat crawfish. "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."-1 Thessalonians 5:11. It means a lot to me that my friends are encouraging me and building me up in this chapter of Louisiana life.
