Art Studio Tour

Here it is, my little corner of our hobby room that I have as my art studio. Parker has his computer set up in this room as well as his drum kit and various stringed instruments, and now, his podcast recording area (link to his podcast legends and lagers). So, I have a small portion of this room and as long as I keep it clean I am satisfied. Someday, when we move somewhere more permanent I wan to have an actual studio like a shed where I can also open it on weekends for gallery tours and sales and potentially host a festival or two with other artists able to display their art, too. But, this is what I have now.

In this picture is my drafting table- I keep it slanted so I can't set things that aren't art on it and clutter it down. I have a light-magnifying glass for small detail works, some stewart semple art things, pens and pencils, papers in the drawers and on the side table there is loads of brushes, paint thinner, tacky glue and a jar of water for when I use acrylic or watercolor. I like my desk being in front of the window for the natural light.

I have a better picture of the side table here and some of my ART-chery artwork displayed. When I was working as an archery educator/ naturalist in South Dakota I invented this fun "game" that combines art and archery. Here is the Youtube link that I am in explaining how to set it up so you can do it at home (ART-chery link).

Here is where I spend half my time. This is my favorite art stand. I have a lot of pallets around and a tacklebox of oil paint. I keep my acrylic in that desk top art stand that you see to the left in front of my hunting boots. A few frames are there for me to fill when I get this picture on my drafting table done, the rest of the frames and canvas are in the closet. That muslin roll under the duck painting is my new 12 inch long paint brushes that are so amazing. It lets me get better at the blocking in stage. The pink storage drawers are hiding my watercolor box but the pink drawers have a bunch of fun stuff in it like perfume, biology books and family history stuff- it's a mess in those drawers.

I hope you enjoy this little tour! It is small but it works. You can create art anywhere you want and I hope this encourages you to carve out a little space for yourself to have a hobby.
