WE ARE MOVING | Birthday vacation

On Wednesday, Parker and I work up at 2:30 in the morning to get on my first ever plane, not a direct flight but we would get to Minneapolis, Minnesota around mid-day. I was extremely nervous at first about the plane rides and almost got sick probably due to such an early morning. I really enjoyed looking out the window and on the second plane of the morning it was less cloudy and I could see all kinds of landmarks I was familiar with like the Great Smokey Mountains, Lexington, Ky, and Chicago, Il. When we landed I was feeling pretty hungry and tired- luckily we stopped for some food and a coffee before getting to our rental car appointment. Everything happened so fast. Going from temperatures around 90 degrees F to being in the 50's was a welcome change though. I'll skip ahead here for the 4 hour car ride in our rental.

Thursday, it started sunny and beautiful with all the Fall colors. We slept in a bit from the stress of the day before. Our plan was to see all the waterfalls along Black River Falls Road and end at the Black River Harbor. Once we got on the trail we could smell how clean the air was mixed with fallen red and gold maple leaves. It was a crisp morning but the sun kept us comfortable for our hikes. We heard the waterfalls before we saw them- they were much larger and more powerful than we had thought they would be from the pictures. All 5 waterfalls, the longest hike was 3/4 of a mile but there were a lot of stairs, not bad for a morning adventure. Parker and I climbed all over the rocks that we could get to and one waterfall in particular sprayed misty water on us when we got close. Black River Harbor was the end of the line, this is where Lake Superior is and beyond that- Canada.

We only stayed long enough to wander across this old bridge and see the shores of the great lake before heading to town for some lunch. Joe's Pasty's was on the menu for lunch. I highly recommend these things as they are like a pot pie/ hot pocket that kept my hands warm and was filled with potatoes and roast beef. After that we drove a ways to the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park to see lake of the clouds and hike for a short time.

We drove back into town and sampled some beers from Cold Iron Brewery. I tried their blueberry, cranberry, maple and honey beers- don't worry family they were small sample size, haha. There we met a lot of great people that made us feel very welcome in the community and told us a lot of great information on the town. It really made Parker and I feel like something good will come out of all this. For supper we ate that the Elk and Hound. It was really great and once again great people. We got cheese curds and they had free soup and salad before our meals.

Friday came around and this was a big day. Like a very. important. day. We checked out of our Air b and b at 10 and went to kill some time at the local shops. The Benjamin Franklin may fool you by the name but I could have spent hours looking at all the things they had in there. Some tourist stuff which I love, bear and moose house decor and even an art supply section. Then we went to an antique store that was nearby- I found some really cool old jack and jill saws and pic axes that were used long ago in this area. Now it is old history that would be cool to have in a house some day. And at long last, the moment we had been praying for, Parker had his job interview. And I won't say more of that- it's his story to tell.

When we got reunited again we visited Copper Peak before we got back on the road to fly home. We took a ski lift up the mountain, then went up the elevator 18 stories, then climbed the rest of the way up to the top- 380 feet above the ground. We could see Wisconsin, Minnesota, Lake Superior, and Canada from up there. It was a windy and cold day, we could feel the structure swaying a little in the wind.

Like I said in the title- we are moving!! We will get to experience all this and more when we go back to Ironwood, Michigan! This is located in the upper peninsula of Michigan and with the cold, snow, nice Summers and beautiful Fall weather the climate will be just right for us. I am going to learn to ski and become a member of their art association up there. Things are really working out! Now I gotta finish my last few weeks of school!

My Bible verse I chose is:

"I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.

I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel.

I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD" - Ezekiel 34:13-15

We can always trust God to bring us to the right place. It's hard to wait, and it is hard not knowing but God does know and he will work it out for your good.
