I teased about this in our last post but on the way back up to Michigan, where we now live, from Kentucky we decided to get a puppy. We were discussing it on our way there because with me being at home it is the perfect time to train a dog, take him outside to potty and keep an eye on him. We found a lot of good candidates for our puppy since Parker and I love dogs so much. We decided, with some persuasion from me, on a golden retriever like I used to have ("My Max"). On our way back when we were in Wisconsin we stopped along our way to visit these cute dogs we saw on puppies.com. Not gonna lie, I wish I could have adopted all of them (there were 3 total) because they were all so sweet but also, in the kindest words I can say, they needed a new home. Unfortunately, the people that had the puppies got rid of their mother 2 weeks prior to us adopting Beaux. Anyway, all these puppies were so lovable. The smallest one liked me a lot and was very shy, there was one that was more golden who liked Parker a lot and didn't come see me very much, then Beaux. Beaux was one of the larger ones they had tied with the golden one. He visited Parker and I both equally so we decided he might be the puppy for us. He was 10 weeks old (12 weeks now) and he's a lot more of a cream color.
He slept the whole car ride back home, didn't cry very much. He has had very few accidents in the house, when he does he goes in the bathroom because that's where his humans go...but he is good about grabbing his leash or crying about having to go out. He knows about 13 words already, if he listens that's different but he does know them. He is teething right now which is definitely tough for us because chewing and biting. We give him ice and antlers to chew on and that distracts him from tearing up anything. He's been good, he hasn't tore up anything in our house actually, he just tears up his own toys...
So, anyway I have been home training him. He loves walks outside especially with all the snow we have been getting. Its been snowing for about a week now and it is in the forecast for another week so far. Now that he has all his puppy shots we have been going on longer walks- yes long walks in the cold weather. Parker and I are really getting used to it. It is so fun to watch Beaux track animals in the snow. He puts his nose in every deer track or other animal track he finds and follows it way deep into the woods. Lucky for us we make our own trail in the snow to follow back out. Another thing is our house is just covered in icicles, the longest is probably over 3 feet long which has peaked my curiosity of how big they can get. I leave a bunch up but ill knock on down for Beaux every few days to carry around like a stick. He isn't very strong yet though so I have to make them smaller.
He loves the rabbits, a little too much at times to where he eats their bedding and on one occasion he got a rabbit poop and yours truly has to dig my hand in his mouth to retrieve all these inedible things. Another time he slapped Scarlett on the rear end. She didn't like that. But more often than not they just touch noses and are curious of one another, if I sit with them Beaux usually just lays down and watches them. I think he has given the rabbits new spunk since lately they have all been playful outside of their cage more than ever.
I hesitate to say this but I made him an Instagram account. It is as dog mom as you can get and I laugh as I write his posts because it is such a fake aspect of me. But I am pretty good at it so...is it that fake? But yeah you can tease me all you'd like for it but he is getting a lot of small business brand deals right now and discount codes. I'll link the stores below with the codes. You know I love small businesses- mainly because that's my constant fall back job for me and I know what it's like. Back to the topic of his social media, I did it because my friend already has one (@jax_frenchielife) and this account is leagues ahead. So I get to see all the brand deals this puppy is getting and how it works so I thought- I might as well. I take a lot of pictures of Beaux anyway.. He is sleeping right now so I am going to end it here so I can get some housework done before he needs to go outside. My Bible verse is: "But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold". -Job 23:10. Raise your hand if you love this! Job here is saying that even in a hard place in your life God sees you and is with you. Yeah, hard times test people but it can make you or break you. With God, perseverance and good character (which is usually the result of trying times- God likes to build a good character in us) we can come out of bad situations shining like gold. Isn't that what you want? And yes- gold because golden retriever if you caught on to that.
